Colorado School of Mines Aikido Club

The purpose of the CSM Aikido Club is to create a prosocial environment for CSM students to learn self-defense, promote health and fitness, build confidence, and better themselves. Classes emphasize strong fundamentals, technical precision, fluid movement, and body preservation skills. The club is free to all CSM students, with some supporting members from the extended CSM community.

David Ruttinger has been training in Aikido since 2004. He trained in several dojo before settling at Aikido Shobukan Dojo in his hometown of Washington DC. In 2013 David moved to Colorado, and in fall of 2017 he started the Colorado School of Mines Aikido Club. In addition to having experience in aikido, David has rank in Judo, and teaches Takamura ha Shindo Yoshin Ryu jujutsu and kenjutsu.

Fall 2019 Schedule: Empty hand - Wednesday 5-6pm and Sunday 11am-1pm in McNeil at the Student Rec Center; Weapons - Mondays 5-6pm in Ballroom E of the Student Center. Kyu testing 10/18 at Boulder Aikikai (tentative), Aikido Workshop at Naropa 11/23 (tentative). Class in Ballroom C on 10/7. No class 9/30, 10/6, 10/13, 10/14 (Fall Break), 11/4 (space taken), 11/27 (Thanksgiving).
