Body / Mind Principles in Aikido with George Ledyard Sensei, Aikido 7th Dan and direct student of Mitsugi Saotome Shihan. This weekend will focus on integrating the body / mind skills that create “aiki” and are common to all styles of “aiki” arts and the movement principles that are unique to Aikido.
For a number of years many Aikido students have been working on developing a solid understanding of connection work, or “musubi” in their Aikido. Often, they develop some ability to do the various connection exercises involved without the ability to translate that work back into Aikido Kihon Waza or applied technique.
This seminar will focus on how our connection work couples with movement principles to create the unique martial art of Aikido. Attendees will work intensively on the “Entry” to deepen their understanding of the principle of “irimi” and “kuzushi on contact”.
February 24 – 26, 2017. Held at the Abundant Peace Dojo located at 42 – Riel Drive, St. Albert, AB, Canada T8N 3Z8.
